The story
Gallery was launched in Chicago with the well-known defence lawyer F. Lee Bailey as publisher; the first issue reached newsstands in November 1972. Its early layout resembled Playboy so closely that it was soon reworked, and Bailey left within the first year. The magazine was later published by Montcalm Publishing.
