About this title

The Dutch Playboy first appeared in May 1983. The launch drew protest: demonstrators threw copies from an Amsterdam bookshop into a canal. Ellen Soeters was the first cover model, and the debut issue included a much-discussed pictorial of Earth & Fire singer Jerney Kaagman.
